Music Programs at Valor Christian Academy

At Valor Christian Academy, we believe music is a gift from God and a powerful way for students to develop creativity, discipline, and a heart of worship.

Preschool Music (Infants–3’s Class)

Valor Christian Academy partners with Music Rhapsody to provide our students with weekly musical instruction. From Music Rhapsody:

Our Music Rhapsody program doesn’t just teach music. It helps development in every part of your child’s brain: hearing, vision, speech, balance, behavior, movement, sensation, memory, emotion.

MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES develop motor skills, coordination, and body awareness.

LISTENING TO MUSIC develops thinking skills, while the songs, rhymes, and finger plays strengthen memory.

REPEATING PATTERNS and counting beats develops math and literacy skills.

GROUP DANCES and musical games encourage social skills.

Music improves the quality of life. Children are happier when music is added to their day. Adults, too. You’ll be amazed how much your child grows with Music Rhapsody.

Elementary Music (TK–5th Grade)

Through our partnership with Music Rhapsody, students in Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade enjoy a weekly music class that lays a strong foundation for a lifelong love of music. Students learn the fundamentals of music theory, practice reading music, and develop their instrumental skills by playing the recorder. These engaging, hands-on lessons foster confidence, collaboration, and joy as students discover how music reflects God’s beauty and order. From Music Rhapsody:

Music Rhapsody’s award-winning music education program is based on Orff Schulwerk, a creative teaching philosophy. The Orff Schulwerk approach is the national standard for elementary music education. This approach focuses on allowing students to enjoy the fun of singing, moving, and playing high-quality percussion instruments and recorders in a joyful, game-like group setting while learning to read, write and create music. Lessons spark creativity and higher-level thinking skills.

Middle School Music (6th–8th Grade)

Our middle school students have the opportunity to take their musicianship to the next level by joining our Chapel Band elective. In this program, students learn both instrumental performance and vocal leadership, working together to lead worship for our school community. Chapel Band provides a unique environment where young musicians grow in skill while using their talents to glorify God and encourage others in their faith.

After School Music Classes (K–8th Grade)

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade have the opportunity to participate in after school music classes via our partnership with Heartstrings Education. Heartstrings Education teaches students violin, guitar, and Ukulele:

We are music teachers with a passion who believe that children thrive with education in the arts. Our fun and engaging music classes provide the space to refine an artistic craft, to expand social skills and nurture confidence, and provide a foundation of skill and merit for character to blossom.

Talent Show (1st–8th Grade)

Every year, our Valor community is treated to the amazing Valor Talent Show in which students share their wonderful gifts in drama, comedy, dance, and, of course, MUSIC!
